I recently lucked into a rear axle from a 1997 (actually, the axle was made in 1997, or there about) Ford Explorer. It is geared 4:10, which is perfect, as I was planning on re-gearing both my Wrangler axles to this ratio. It is an open carrier model. This 8.8 will replace the Dana 35 (also known as the "turdy-five") which has a reputation for failing during off-road use. This gallery is just a few snap shots as the project progresses. It will likely be spring or summer 2012 before the project is complete. I still need a SYE/CV, upper and lower adjustable control arms, and to regear my front Dana 30.
