Skunk Cabbage, near Clearwater

Skunk Cabbage has the largest leaves of any plant native to Canada. In spring it has a yellow cape which contains the flowering part. The smell of the plant is similar to that of skunks. It grows in moist, swampy forest areas of the coast and interior. Leaves can be as long as 5 feet!
