The Holy Spring.

In IV and Vth centuries the Armorican which worship the Celtic Divinities, undergoes of vast migratory flow from British Cornwall (Devon) and from Wales. It seems, according to the historians, that these waves of successive invasions pass by in a peaceful way.
These newcomers, "the Bretons", Celts too, speak more or less the same language as the Armorican. They were "romanized" and were converted to the Christianity. They are led by "spiritual leaders" (in reality chieftains or members of aristocratic families) who, anytime soon installed, dash in an ample campaign of evangelization.
Places dedicated to the Celtic rites are Christianized : menhirs (standing stones) are transformed into calvaries and, as on the image above, the sources where they worshipped the Goddess of waters become votive fountains.
In XIXth century still, and even at the beginning of the XXth, the Bretons worshipped these former "spiritual leaders" become in time Holy Founders. Every evening, they read " Bulez ar Sent " (" The life of the saints ") which told their idealized and glorified existence...
