While walking around in the Trinity River NWR during a recent visit I heard the familiar song of a Prothonotary Warbler so I decided to see if I could get a look. It wasn’t long until I saw a yellow flash flying through the cypress trees. The ground was pretty muddy, and I had left my rubber boots in my car so it was a little bit of a challenge to make it to a position where I could get a good look. I watched for quite a while as this little beauty hopped from one cypress knee to the next searching for insects and occasionally letting out a burst of song, letting everyone in the swamp know he was still there. What a great pleasure it was to spend some time with this amazing little creature!
