8th: Above and Below by Michael Shealy

Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO

Rules Broken: Rule of Thirds, Splitting the Image at Mid-line
Reason it Works: Large elements in the graphic/unique nature of the structure cut across the entire frame, left to right and top to bottom leading attention to the contrasting elements of clouds and back to the structure. This contrast goes beyond Rule of thirds/splitting the image requirements which are intended to focus attention on a more singular subject and a larger background ... I think.

Canon EOS D30 ,Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
1/350s f/6.7 at 28.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Clouds definitely cooperated for you on this one. John

Thanks, Kelly & Lonnit. Yah, Kelly, it has given me a kind of spaceship feel, as well. This building is awesome and a terrific subject for pix. An afternoon set of thunderclouds were just beginning to roll over to further add to the drama. Thanks again. Cheers, -mikey

I love this Mikey - it allows me to think we're looking down from a place in space above a turbulent sea. - Kelly
