GUESS

Baku, Azerbaijan

Rule Broken
1) Avoid (reflection when) shooting through glass.

The immediate attraction of the shot was the contrast provided by the reds and blacks in the shot; however although well set up the display was a bit 'lifeless' ;). I noticed the reflection of the building opposite and positioned my self so that the building appears directly behind the mannequins and at the same time maximising the reflection and losing myself with the exception of my feet.

The result a busy slightly surreal shot retaining the original colour interest.

"The guy approaching me in the reflection is just about to tell me to stop 'snapping' as his company (GUESS) does not allow photographing of their clothes" BS

Canon EOS 30D ,Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM
1/50s f/4.5 at 30.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

So wonderful when all the magic happens in-camera! ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, so do I and I took the shot! Today, I cannot work out where the sharp border of the building comes from; I did nothing in post processing to achieve that. It was already there! :-) mcbit

I like that it is difficult to ascertain which is reflection and which is background. Interesting shot which certainly qualifies. :) ~ Lonnit

Yes John there are an inordinate number of 'busybodies' considering the population and almost zero people carrying large cameras. My answers are becoming less diplomatic as time goes on!

Comments appreciated and noted. Not sure if I can get away with darkening the area in the crook of the arm though. :) -mcbit

You seem to get that "Don't take a picture" a lot. Maybe you should get yourself a less conspicuous camera like a G9 or S80 so that you won't be arrested. :-)

I did not completely process the reflection (street part) since my mind considered it a distraction and almost eliminated it from my view. When I read the description, I saw the reflection and I almost can't see the models anymore since they are the distraction. Very nice. I wonder if you removed the white from the model on the left (crook of her arm), if this would let people see the street part of the reflection more immediately. People look from left to right and the reflection really stands out in her black jacket. John
