Thanks a lot, Joe :-))
I didn't use any special lights to be honest. It was quite sunny outside (which doesn't happen often here in England) and the guitar was on my bed. I liked the shadows created by the strings so I got black t-shirt for the background and got my camera out :-) Only a few shoots looked decent but this is something I am used to by now :-) I got so involved into looking for the right angle that I didn't notice the dust at all. Better follow Rod's mum's advice next time though ;-)

Don't FRET there Katcat...even with the dust it's a cool first post! Framing the text between the strings adds emphasis to it! I think the lighting works really well here too!

Thank you all very much for such a warm welcome :)
To be honest I only noticed the dust when I have already formatted the image. Well, never mind, I'll leave it as it is and try to be more careful next time. In Russia we say: "the first pancake is (always) a blob", which means things don’t work the first time. It is certainly true in my case :)

Yes welcome Kitty Cat, You did a fine job of this with the lighting but as Sharon said the dust can really show up on these types of shots. Cleanliness is next to Godliness me Mum reckons. Well done mate:-)

Welcome to the challenge, Kat! A very nice first entry The colors and depth of field are both very good. The fingerboard (?) seems pretty dusty which is distracting. You could try photoshopping the worst of it out, I don't know if that would be easier for you than reshooting or not. Still, quite a pleasing image! ~Sharon

I especially love these warm tones and the subject as my youngest son has played the violin since he was 8. He is now at that scary looking college (according to Rod) in Carlisle! Paty
