Puente del Mundo, Corazón del Universo *

Panama

Panama (NP) - "Bridge of the World, Heart of the Universe" is one of the mottos that Panamanians use to describe their country. Since the "discovery" of America in 1492, this isthmian country has served in fact as a route for riches, at first coming from South America to Europe and centuries later after the US built the Panama Canal through it, joining the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and turning itself into a hub for world commerce.

Today, Panama emerges again as a hub for international flights, telecommunications and internet, keeping its role as a bridge for commerce. It is also trying to promote itself as a tourist destination, merging jungle, city and traditions into an interesting melee that is tempting more and more people to know it.

In the image, we can see the Bridge of the Americas, which crosses the Panama Canal. A man-made structure re-joins what a man-made structure breached.

Excellente Humberto, or as we say down here “A bloody good shot mate" By including the souvenirs you have turned what would have been a fine photographers shot into a photojournalists shot. Very hard to do when faced with a beautiful landscape such as this. Thanks for keeping the topic in mind when shooting this excellent shot. What could be better than a foreground of Panama hats. Your commentaries have been a standout in this challenge also. You certainly jumped into this topic with both feet. Thanks for making me a happy host:-) Good onya Humberto.
