The Irish icon of the local pub. Guinness and traditional Irish music (The drums in the background are bodhrams - Irish drums made with goat skin - backlighting to show the texture of the skin. The foreground lit with candles and a small torch (without bananas) to emphasize the Guinness label.
Thanks Pops. Yes the head was a bit dark - I think I must have drunk too much of my subject, and I couldn't find another suitable Knowles device. Also the whole photo looked much darker on pbase compared with photoshop. There's probably a good reason for this but I don't know why (also ACDSee is always darker than PS??) Anyway, I have lightenned the head (the frothy bit) and lightenned the whole picture a little in photoshop.

Well done with the lighting, though I think it might work better with the beer on one side of the frame rather than center. Also, the draft cans with the little thingy at the top are even *better* than the bottles. Mmmmmm

The head on that glass of Guinness should be a lot lighter. I know you lit this with candles and a psuedo Knowles BFL but I'd like to see the head just a bit lighter.
This is a beautiful photo, Neil. Not entirely sure about the subject matter....that stuff looks pretty awful to be drinking, but you've done an awesome job of lighting. Wonderful sharpness on the bottle and glass, very thoughtful composition.
