My favorite part of this image is the color. Navy blue sky against the stark white building. Indeed it wouldn't have been the same without the shadow. It works well as an anchor.

Stong visual play on angles and offsets and how to make a straight line not so. I had to take a straight edge to convince my brain that the lower edge is indeed perfectly straight (of the metal rod and its shadow, that is). The superdark sky weighs heavily on the blindingly white wall (without burnout) and gives the image a claustrophobic feeling. Good shadow effect slices through and mitigates the glare. -tv
