Every year while blueberry picking we see the shells from the pupal stage of the cicada.

This year we saw a freshly hatched cicada!

Great find! About twenty five years ago when we had the cicada invasion here on Long Island my youngest son, who was around three years old, went in the back yard and found tons of the shells and placed them all over his teeshirt. He then came in to show me his prizes. I was a good mom and didn't faint. Your photo brought back a lot of memories!
