Stary, Stary Night

I may re-shoot this. It was cold, (to me), in the 30's, and I didn't tripod the image...I'm curious myself what f18 would look like. Maybe tonight.

Canon EOS 350D
1/10s f/8.0 at 17.0mm iso400 full exif

Beautiful capture of those spidery lights, even without the tripod. --mlynn

Thanks, Bob, but the sad thing was that I had a tripod in my car. I always have a tripod, everywhere I go...airline security sometimes get a little put out about it...lol...but I have it.

In this instance I was just too lazy to walk back to my car to get it. I also had the additional problem of my sister talking to me on the cell phone at the same time...well, when your siblings call you have to talk to them...lol...so I was talking and shooting at the same time. (hee, hee, hee)

Best Wishes, Traveller

Hey.. that is a steady hand you got there Mista? Nice capture and very effective composition.

I made myself a 'sand bag' using some 'hobby shop bag of fine plastic beads' and sewed up a felt-type material cover (to keep the beads in and make it robust but soft and not abrasive to the camera) Beats a tripod most times... easy to carry, you can plonk it onto most surfaces and nestle the camera into it.

I use the top of a post, the side of a tree etc. and it usually works well. Mine is about 7" X 7" X about 2" thick and loosely filled so you can shift the beads around to form a 'ramp' to mould into the camera/lens shape as required.

When I'm not using it it helps 'pad' the camera in the camera bag.... best accessory you can have for under $10.
