He Was Sailing To Where The Sky Was Made * Traveller

Off The Cost of Colombia

Obviously a composite...So Cal Sky, San Francisco Moon, Colombian Sea. People use words here, like feathering, layers, opacity...the only way I'll learn them, is to use them...or at least finally know where they are at last...lol

We who do not have a 'printing' background have trouble with a lot of the terminology in PS especially, Traveller but this is why these challenges and forum are helpful. Good to try all sorts of things.

One tip I found useful especially in comps. like this is the 'gradation of light and colour toward the horizon. Notice how this looks like these guys are going to fall of the edge of the world.... ?

If you play with the light near the horizon (it gets lighter in reality...) you can use colour correction with layers and masks and blend modes such as 'soft light' etc.( a bit too complex to explain here..) so that it looks more realistic.

Good post though Traveller, I like bravery of these individuals in such an un-seaworthy looking boat. ~ Regards Melbob

Loved your comment, Traveller: "... or at least finally know where they are at ..." :-) That is exactly how I often feel about my own competence levels with PS and similar software! :-) Let's inspire each other to keep on learning new tricks! Regards ~jnconradie
