I really like this portrait Mary Anne, love the composure, seemingly candid but as you explained, posed for a fellow student. Love the lighting and the mystery of her thoughts. Great post ~ Regards Melbob

Thank you, Shu. I've always enjoyed doing portraits, but it's only recently that I've had access to some lighting. This one was shot using a light table, and it provided very nice WB.

Lots of hits on this great shot!! The pose is unique and the earing and heart add so much to the composition. Portraits are scary for me, so this provides much inspiration. Are you planning on doing more portrait work?? shu

Thanks for the additional background... which makes one understand and appreciate the shot even more. You did well! (And I agree: I also prefer the before and after shots!) Regards jnconradie

Nico, I just happened into a classroom where a couple of photo students were setting up shots of each other, so I just hung around and took a few of my own while they were arranging things. I've been getting some interesting results from taking pics before and after the "real" pose. I agree that she may be looking a bit too much to the side, but otherwise I like the way this one turned out.

Interesting facial expression and pose. What is she thinking I wonder? Works well against the dark background, in my opinion. (Perhaps her eyes are turned a touch too far, slightly unnaturally?) Regards jnconradie
