2nd Place
Green Eggs and Ham *
by Michael Puff

With deepest homage to Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel

I do not like Green Eggs and Ham
I do not like them
Sam, I am

I do not like them here or there
I do not like them anywhere
I do not like them in a boat
I would not, could not, with a goat

I will not eat them in the rain
I do not like them on a train
I do not like them in a box
I will not eat them with a fox

I do not like them in a house
I would not, could not, with a mouse
I do not like Green Eggs and Ham
I do not like them
Sam, I am

Oh my goodness, this is fabulous. I LOVE Dr. Seuss and Green Eggs and Ham is one of my favorites. Fantastic execution. Instantly recognizable with the green eggs and ham, and if that wouldn't clue someone in, that glove surely would tip them over the fence. Michael, it's just brilliant.

Thanks all, so very much.

Techo, thanks for mentioning the position of the hand and with Jim, the glove...it was important to me that they be recognizable Seuss elements. Techo, oh I agonized over that hole in the ham. Ultimately I decided to leave it in because I thought it was a touch of reality for such an unreal scene...I might have to rethink that.

Mr. B., glad to have been of service and delighted that you can now move on to even greater universal questions. Grant, thank you, you are a true gentleman considering you had to drag me kicking and screaming to an appreciation of "Insert Photo Here" (Mr. B. helped).

Michael K., I have no particular dexterity in my left hand except to be able to press the button on a cable release :-). Traveller, be pleased that I don't have nearly enough skill to realize 90 percent of what pops into my mind...it's easier for all concerned.

Again, thank you all. I wasn't sure this image was gonna fly but you've all managed to give it a bit of wing. -Michael

haha really fun! Really great attention to detail!. Right down to the glove and right down to the posture of the hand. (*)the most minor nitpick but since no one mentioned it... clone out that little hole on that slice of ham? Perfect :)

I love it. The gloved hand is, for me, superb! I wouldn't have thought of doing that. Excellent! Jim H.

Sickening yet delightful! Great job. :) I love Seuss. I just read The Lorax to my daughter's 5th grade class on Fri., and actually cried at the end. I'm doing read alouds every Fri for the next 3 weeks. I do character voices for them all. It's so much fun. I willl definitely be thinking about this pic! ~ Lonnit

Well, you've cleared up a question I've had for decades: Is it...
* Green( Eggs ) + Ham; or
* Green( Eggs + Ham )

Vastly different mathematical outcomes, depending on the route one takes. Again, thanks for clearing this up. I can move on to other things now. --Mr. Biscuit

P.S. Ingenious play on the Challenge theme, and a very nice image.

Very clever and well executed Michael. And I'm still wondering how you took this shot
with your left hand:)

Dear Michael: How DO you come up with this stuff???? Well, obviously Dr. Suess, but then to actually translate it into a vision....well, kudos again, that's talent. Best Wishes, Traveller
