Hey, part of the problem is that you've uploaded a photo with AdobeRGB embedded. Looks better in Firefox than in Safari (which actually takes the colorprofile into account).
Olaf, you're right, there was a green tint I hadn't noticed. I've uploaded a new image that processed a little differently. Thanks for pointing it out! On the similarity with the stairs image; I seem to like these graphic images, something that catches my eye.

While I think this is clearly the strongest of your three submissions, there is something that does not look 'right' to my eye here. I think it is the florescent green highlights in the varnished wood on right side of the image. Are they a side-effect of the post-processing? Maybe the whitebalance is a bit off? - the black wood in the upper right has a hint of green as well.
As an interesting side note, there is a clear similarity to your winning staircase-shot in this...
