It's a crop of a water jug at a local botanical garden (big - about 1m high). The dark stuff is algae that has grown onto the surface. -Ed Hahn

Interesting image. I have a hard time seeing a water jug, though. Is that specs of mud? Is it a water jug from your mountain bike which has no fenders? Almost looks translucent - I like that. --Olaf
