TRAVELLER? !!! Well, sir, you have stepped out of character here! And a fine job you have done. A very worthy entry. Excellently done! ~ LOnnit

That is excellent Traveller!!! Nice and sharp with a bonus purply-red sand. After hunting around and coming up with all sorts of complicated plans I just wish I had thought of this - AND I used it yesterday morning!!!??? Well done you got my vote.

Nice take on the theme Trav! I don't mind the dark background on the left as it gives a sense of depth and a warmer look to the image. CJ

Thank you, Trav, that's a lovely compliment. I dunno that I'm right...it's merely a suggestion if you want a different image which would be just that, "different", but not necessarily better. Quite honestly, the background is growing on me. I can see the pedestal reflected in the glass at the center of the hourglass which is a complexity I'm enjoying. This is one of those images I could stare at for hours. -Michael

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....You're such a blankety-blank smart guy Michael...I'm thinking maybe you are Right...Hummmm?

I would further note that, were you to live in my city or....anywhere within a hundred miles, I'd pay for Photoshop lessons from you...lol

But really, I though about this the other day upon seeing your image, The Time Maker.

If you ever want a second career, Teaching ain't a bad one.

I will think on your suggestion and see if I am capable of doing this, (oddly, or maybe not, this is the most busiest time of year for me...so many people in so much trouble....I'd retire, but what am I going to do, look at the ceiling?

No, no....I'll take Photoshop lessons from Mr. M. Puff!

I guess this also my way of saying I may not have time to get to the changes before tomorrow)

Best Wishes, Trraveller

I really like this, Trav. It has a strong abstract quality and the motion of the sand is very nice. Your comment about polishing the glass twice gave me chuckle and it shows! I do agree with others about the background but understand the limitations. As a thought, you could do a wee bit of cloning to make the left side completely dark (or not, LOL!). -Michael

Wow! What an excellent macro!

Dearest, Nico, were I selling this image, or were if a shoot for...some ultimate purpose like a Brochure, a CD cover, I'd take the Pedestal apart from the Hour Glass, but....we're all friends here....lol

I did polish the glass twice!

Best Wishes, Traveller

You might just have a winner here, Mr Traveller! Yes, it would have been better (in my opinion) without the dark background elements, but I still think you managed to capture the essence of the challenge: time. Well done! Regards Nico

Yes, I know the background is problematic...but still acceptable. The entire hour glass is surrounded by wooden carved pillars holding the hour glass in place...it was very difficult finding an acceptable angle were there wasn't blockage much more than this and completely obscuring everything.

It was a problem that...actually surprised me. And how difficult it was to solve.

The 580ex II was on a tripod, leaving me free to contort with the camera.

Yes, the nifty 50 is a great lens....but I need a macro....badly.

A Christmas present for myself!?!

Nice one, Trav. Great concept, well executed. The background is a bit distracting, but this one gets a vote. Did you use extension tubes for this shot? I wouldn't think a nifty fifty could get this close. If it did, I think I need to get one ":^) Cheers, -mikey
