Henfynyw

The position of the present 19th century church, proud on its promontory and set in a spacious churchyard, reminds us of Henfynyw's past prominence. A church has stood on this site since about the 5th or 6th century and in the late 12th century court poet Gwynfardd Brycheiniog in his poem of praise to Dewi Saint and the churches "owned" by the saint, praises Henfynyw in extravagant terms, "Henfynyw, her clovers filling the field and her woods full of acorns."
