St Albans cathedral - less known than the great 'gothic' cathedrals and a bit of a hotchpotch from outside, but a real treat inside with substantially complete Norman central area beautifully enhanced by modern re-ordering and with odd Saxon remains. Distinctively high (in all senses), but I am not going to be there as a Sunday morning automaton. I just wish I could add the amazing sound from a quite small choir. All shots handheld or rested on chairbacks 18-135 kit lens
from the upper garden nearest town centre
south transept triforium detail with Saxon columns
Norman doorway leading out to very brave C20th chapter house/reception centre
nave from choir, but very successfully reveresed in modern ordering
