long, long ago

Dun or baby Broch at Ardifuir. This must be the oldest surviving habitation in the area. The archaeologists can't agree on what these circular structures were about, but at least the more recent have conceded that each one or at least geographic group may have been different. This one has an internal perimeter floor; who knows how high it was before being raided for stone. A great site for what ever it was anyway! See also gallery http://www.pbase.com/crisscross/broch
