Cefnllys - usurped by Llandrindod Wells

Cefnllys Castle(s) flourished in the middle ages on top of a steep hill in a U bend of the River Ithon with the village on its western slope . The castles had become ruins by the C15th at which time the church and presumably part of the village were still thriving. Now only the church, mostly, an 1895 re-build, survives in an incredibly isolated location

Fascinating gallery. Especially interesting to examine the aerial photos of the area on Google Earth. Occasionally one can see geometrical patterns in the soil showing the locations of what may have been structures many years ago.
