There is a big rivalry between Livorno (my town) and Pisa (10 minutes away). All the street signs here that say "Pisa" have "Merda" written after, and likewise the ones in Pisa that say "Livorno" also have "Merda" following. It's really amusing for me, becuase I picture two kindergarteners arguing during recess:
And so on. Anyway, we had to go to Pisa since it is so close, and see the Duomo, which I think is the most beautiful one I have seen in Italy thus far. Unfortunately there isn't much (that I know of) to see in Pisa besides the Duomo, Tower, and Baptistry - so it's a quick trip. For those curious, you can go up in the tower these days, if you are willing to shell out $15 a head.
