All open, high buildings create 'freaky' sounds, especially at night when everything else is so quiet. I hear freaky sounds around our own property, which is over 200 years old, especially at night, but I don't for a moment mark any of it down to ghosts.There's nothing there that isn't around in the daylight. I'm much more afraid of real-life horrors such as thieves and murderers than things that go bump in the night!As for the legends, high buildings attract suicides and sick people kill themselves every day the world over.WH was no different from many other such establishments - my mother spent over two years in one in northern England - and many survived too, which nobody bothers to mention,thanks to the dedication of the medical staff who worked ceaselessly at great risk to their own lives. Unfortunately, WH is now a firmly-established fixture on the creepy calendar, which means that as more people come to scare themselves witless there, less and less attention will be focussed on restoring this marvellous place. hahaha bla bla bla!!! jenette you ar really stuiped!!

I have this picture, but mine is at night. What floor is this on? I can't remember. I am all for the restoration but I hope that they keep it as original as possible. I do believe that is their plans. When I went there this August new windows were all over the place. You can see the work they've done in my flickr set. I asked them if I could take pictures of the outside of the building during the day and they said that the gates are locked and no one is allowed in until 20 minutes before the tour starts. Let me tell you, they mean it too. Security is really on top of things there. I thought that since I live 200 miles away that I would just drive up to the place and take some pictures while I was in town, but that's not the case. Your name has to be on the list before they even let you through the gate and they didn't open the gate until 15 til 8pm. Our tour started at 8.

Wow! I agree with Teresa. They shouldn't make it all spotless, but they should at least make it sturdy enough for people to visit without worrying that the ceiling will fall on there head. This place is a landmark and should be respected as one. Not be used for graffiti art. I hope they at least clean it and fix up the walls. They don't need to go extreme and paint it though.

there should be no renovations done to the hospital yes it is a bit of history but also it is like a memorial. Lots of people lost their lives in this place and should be respected as such., well for the most part it should still be a place to conduct "research".

I have been to Waverly Hills when I was a sophomore in highschool! I went to Louisville, Kt all the way from Texas for the National FFA Convention and our Ag teacher had told us about it! So me and my friend Jennifer did a little background check on the place! Well we freaked out when we got there. But on Halloween the newest owner of the place divides the hospital into a haunted house type thing with people popping out like Jason and ghouls and stuff...but then you go to the freak your own self out thing! I mean you hear people whispering in your ear but if you turn around...no one is there! Its cool but weird to think that something is behind you that you can't even see! The place is a landmark...a tuberculosis hospital and then a sanitorium...I heard all the stories...The nurse hanging herself in her nurses station, the nurse jumping out the window...all that! I believe in it too! Yall need to visit it is great!!!!

Monia, It is because a man that owned the property wanted to make the larget statue of jesus christ at i believe 152 feet tall and wide. The historical society or some organization said that he could nto destroy any more of the buildings, espically the larger Waverly Hills Sanatorium. The man also had a lack of funds, he needed about 8 -20 million dollars to create this project, and only 3,000 dollars were raised as a total from the whole country. He needed money so he tried going around and digging 30 ft. holes around the hospital or so some say, He wanted the place to get destroyed in hopes of insurance money. He let vandals in to destroy the place, then sold it after all attempts faild. Not with the renovations, I disagree with. Thats like building a new hospital in my opinion. I have never been there before but i think i will have to go before it is all new. I just wish highschool would allow time for that >_<

This is a creepy place. They should just make it more sturdy. But not make any more changes. This building is what it is because of the way it looks and the things that have happend in it, if you make any changes it's like your taking away it's form. I also think it should be protected so that it doesn't get more damaged.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT A BUILDING LIKE THAT WITH SUCH HISTORY CAN BE DISTROYED BY GRAFFITTI AND PAINT. I MEAN WHY CAN'T THE BUILDING BE PROTECTED IN SOME WAY LIKE OTHER HISTORICAL BUILDINGS . I KNOW THAT THIS HOSPITAL WAS A LAST PLACE TO BE FOR SOME PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM TB, BUT ALSO, THERE WERE PEOPLE WHO WERE CURED BY BEING TREATED IN THAT FACILITY. THAT'S WHY I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE UNDER SOME PROTECTION, SO THAT IT CAN BE VISITED AND VALUED FOR WHAT IT DID TO PEOPLE WHO SURVIVED. IT WASN'T THE BEST PLACE TO BE FOR SOME PATIENTS, BUT IT WAS A "HOSPITAL OF HOPE" IN THOSE YEARS DURING THIS TERRIBLE EPIDEMIC.

I see they have used the old place for some paintball games too ! It's sad that it's falling into further disrepair. Would be nice if there was some other use for it.
