Calf Elk By The Ponca Access
#68,106 This is the slow time of year for elk photography. Very soon now the bulls will drop their antlers, those that remain are very ragged. This is my down season with fewer visits, but now and then a nice non-bull photo comes along. This little one is one of those.

Two Cows and a Calf at Sunrise
#65558 This will is a favorite picture because of the light and the unusual poses and context. This calf elk is trotting to its mother, as she and another cow are looking back. Nice edge illumination and long tonal scale in frost set this image apart in my mind.
