"He is not missing, He is here" Field Marshal Lord Plumer at the unveiling of the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing 24th July 1927

This gallery is a tribute to the Great War missing and the millions who lost their lives. Look up the harrowing story of the Battle of Paschendale to see just how many lives were lost fighting over approximately 8 kilometres of land.

It is also a tribute to the War Graves commission who maintain all WWI and WWII graves in immaculate condition. And finally to the men of the local volunteer Fire Brigade who trumpet "The Last Post" every evening of the year at 8pm under the "Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing", which displays 56,000 names of the commonwealth dead from the battles of the Ypres-Salient.
