Eugene Boudin was a painter of the sea and sky around the towns of Le Harve, Trouville and many other coastal locations. He exhibited with the original Impressionist, but was one of the few who regularly exhibited with the Paris Salon. He encouraged a young Claude Monet, who lived in Le Harve, to pursue his painting in a serious manner. He was called the master of the sky by other great artist of the day.

Handicapped with a genetic order from birth, Lautrec painted his way to success around the areas of Montmartre and Paris. A lot of his subjects were the prostitutes and dance hall girls of the city. He was named the official artist in residence at the famous Moulin Rouge. He became well known for his theater poster work. In Paris he was friends with Vincent Van Gough. He was also one of the first painters to make use of the newly invented photographic camera.

Probably, the most well known, and the real force that held the Impressionist movement together. A peerless plien air painter who struggled greatly throughout his lifetime within his creative vision. The name Monet is certainly at the top of the Impressionist list.
The painting above is of his first wife, Camille and their son, Jean, painted in about 1875. Another painting, resembling this one, was painted of his stepdaughter, Suzanne Hoschede, in about 1886. He collaborated with all of the emerging masters of the day.

Ranks with Monet as one of the most well known painters of the late 19th Century. He produced around 900 paintings, of which most were created in the last two or three years of his life. He suffered many bouts with mental illness and took his own life in 1890. He was considered to be a Post Impressionist, but was also a pioneer of what became known as the Expressionist movement. His style is instantly recognizable from the other painters of the day.

Illustrated above is one of his earlier works that resembled the Impression art form.

She died in Paris in 1926.

Edvard Munch studied for a short time in Paris with notable art students of the day. He was much influenced by the works of Gauguin and Van Gogh. Later in life, he suffered under the influence of depressive fear and anxiety. This state reflected the tone of art that he produced the rest of his life. During World War II, the Nazi's removed his paintings from German museums, designating them as Stone Age Art. He died before the end of the war in 1944.

Manet, not to be confused with Monet, was the pivotal turning point for the Impression movement of the latter 19th century. He was a steady exhibitor of the Paris Salon, so did not join the Impressionist in any of their showings. He was one of the first painters to render the ordinary people of the city and country side. He was a noted portrait painter in the area and operated his own studios, which was difficult for most of the artist of the day. He collaborated with all of the artists that would become famous later on. He died early in life from complications of a leg amputation.
