March 2 2006:
Sarratt Church

Another genealogy day today. On the way to the records office, we made a detour to see the villages where my ancestors lived in the early 1800’s. My great great great grandfather was a blacksmith, whilst several others worked at the local paper mill.

This is Sarratt, in Hertfordshire, not far from the famous M25 that orbits London. No doubt my folks moved to London for better job opportunities, but now the village is seen as pretty desirable.

Love that shadow spreading out over the grass. Very intersting church too, lots of lovely roof lines.

As others already said - the shadow of the tree on the lawn and the headstone adds much to the wonderful view of the old church! A very compelling picture indeed!

wonderful shot Ray - a beautiful church, love the tree shadow leading to it.

Great rooflines; and that tree shadow is wonderful, and yet quite subtle...

Nice composition Ray with the gravestone and tree shadow in the foreground like that.

I am so there! Got to be better than what my neighborhood is turning into.
Great country church.

Okay... sold!
Can you throw in the tombstones too?
;^))

WOW! . . . . What cool ancestry. I don't have ANYthing near that colorful. I think there is an old Swedish carpenter, and a German who fancied himself an inventor but never invented anything =)

I thought this was your new digs from the thumb . . . .HA!

Wonderfully quaint church, esp with the single headstone. Beautifully shot Ray.
