Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic medalists from Athens took part in a parade in London today. The undoubted star of the show was 34 year old Kelly Holmes who won gold medals in both the 800 and 1500 metres after years of gutsy determination. This ‘double’ had not been achieved by a British athlete for 80 years, and that made it all the more sweet.

The event also served to win the public’s hearts over London’s bid to host the Olympics in 2012. Let’s hope they succeed.
