For some reason, or reasons, some of our railway stations are quite a distance from the places they claim to represent. And Wanborough is one such station. Its actually in a residential area, except that is actually called Flexford which is part of the parish of Normandy. On the edge of Flexford there is a road junction where there is a signboard indicating we are now in a place called Christmas Pie. I think this rather quaint name only refers to the houses near this junction, at least that's what I think!
Now, if you carry on a further mile you will actually reach Wanborough. Its really quite a small place but the average age of the buildings must be pretty high since it mostly consists of old barns as well as the church. Even this post box built into the side of the Great Barn there has VR inscribed on it, denoting Queen Victoria's reign so its relatively modern being a mere 100 or so years old!
So now you know!
