December 9 2003:
Rustic

Chobham, Surrey

I actually drove around today hoping for some kind of rustic, wooden item, but I did not expect to find this outbuilding with fallen wood at every conceivable angle. By chance, I bumped into the landowner who kindly let me on the farm for a better view, but in fact, due to the low sun, my best shot was along the lane, although I'm unsure about all those branches up above! Still, I 've mentally bookmarked this spot for a future morning and a different angle.

I think this is fantastic - I really believe your photography gets better all the time Ray. I drive through Chobham often but have never seen this.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I am really proud of this picture although I do find that branch on the right a little troublesome, but I didn't want to clone it out. The lady there was quite co-operative and hopefully she'll allow me back on for more pictures. Faye: you are correct, I could do a mini-gallery on this structure. When I return I will wear my trainers or boots rather than my office shoes :-)

Excellent image Ray - and there are dozens of close-ups in there too! What a gold mine you've found!

I really enjoy looking at this picture. The sepia tone heightens the "old wood" effect, the gentle shading adds visual variety, and the crudely-pruned upper branches (not the one distractedly spearing in from the right side) marvellously mimic the disarray of the shed timbers. Well done!

I love this! I love ruins, old decrepit buildings. The sepia tone is wonderful and I love the branches on the top...almost like you are looking out from under a tree. It's great!

Oh, Ray - this one gets promoted to the head of the class! Fantastic image, beautifully composed and finished. The branches are the perfect addition - they give the photo a feeling of depth and realism. Stellar work! :>

That is a super shot Ray. You may find the whole thing is down flat when you return!!

Ray
You got all elements right and in place here, resulting in a very fine picture - tx for sharing.

I agree with Jeanne, great job!

Oh, Ray this is GORGEOUS!! The branches frame it perfectly! Don't worry about them. The sepia finish is exactly the right choice! I just love this!!
