November 5 2003:
Underneath

Woking, Surrey

I thought I'd try something a little different today, but still within walking distance of my office. Our town centre is hemmed in by the railway on one side and the Basingstoke Canal on the other and the borough sells itself on fine transport links (not that it sees the canal in this way..). One day I will post a picture to illustrate how our town started in the 19th century - it really is quite a spooky story!
Anyway, this is my view of the canal today, taken from underneath the main road towards London.

This one reminds me the "river walking" in San Antonio, Texas. Very interesting composition and actually capture the feel associated with it...

I know this spot well, Ray. I cycle under this bridge on the way home from work most days. This location was used in a "A Dog Is For Life, Not Just For Christmas" tv ad a few years back. It featured a shadowy figure throwing an unfortunate unwanted puppy (in a sack) into the canal. Nasty - but effective. Thanks for the great daily pictures.
