Liss

Liss, Hampshire view map

Passengers travelling on the train between London and Portsmouth may well have heard of Liss but not necessarily stopped off in the small Hampshire town.

This mill caught my eye and was built in 1835 - it is now used as offices.

I never got to see it but Liss was one end of the Longmoor Military Railway which closed in 1969. "The Great St Trinian's Train Robbery" was filmed on the line in 1965 and starred such perennials as Terry Scott, Richard Wattis, Frankie Howerd, Arthur Mullard, Reg Varney, George Cole and Dora Bryan.

Looks like one of the buildings at our town's old sugar mill. Similar architecture including the wooden room at the top. V

Clearly a well structured building, it looks almost new. At least I can tell which way is north :)
