This village was funded in accordance with the will of department store owner William Whiteley who was murdered aged 75. The village was built for the elderly who had limited means. A wonderful gesture by someone so wealthy. The village was built between 1914 and 1921. Due to the nature of the people living there, you'll only see a limited number of cars!
