curious...i thought about putting this in the urban melancholy project...and I guess from these comments, I should. A new title also seems appropriate, per Lawrence's comment. Again, thanks to all for helping me to "see".

I love this too - and like Lawrence I asssumed it was one from Urban Melancholy. Just a wonderful image - the decrepitude and the peeling paint are interesting in themselves, but it's the way the little details, like the cross in the plastic tub, the tape, and the irony of the "new beginning" sign, emerge one by one, that lift this image up to another level for me. And of course the sharpness and PP are excellent as always. Voted

Another comment now it comes to me. I find it quite remarkable how the objects that usually present a barrier or distraction, you seem to incorporate perfectly into the overall picture. The bin (trash can) on the right hand side is a great example of this. Anyway

Wow I love it - i almost thought this was for Urban Melancholy. I think this is a classic example of what we were discussing about taking aspects of our daily lives and showing them in a way that is unique, subtle and yet very powerful. I also like one of your already used titles for this - 'promise'. Anyway, really excellent picture. Another big vote.

One feels the hush, looking at this elegantly composed image, surveying the details of decrepitude, as if one is standing before desecrated grounds --- there is a dry hydrant (no reviving waters here, I suppose) and then there is the police barrier tape which hints at something awful and foul. What you have captured brilliantly, I think, is spiritual malaise.
