RESPECT

Walking thru the house tonight after the kids went down thinking about how I am helping raise them'
I again realize the overwhelming responsibility I share bringing them up.
I have a unique opportunity to see how others are doing - right and wrong-up close and personal (being their doc)
I also have opportunity to appreciate what the STERN hand of my father did for me.
I absolutely hated him growing up and not until I was out of the house for years watching others, did I realize the value in it.

If I were to pick 1 word to sum up his lesson it would be

RESPECT

Respect for GOD , parents , family , elders , rules , authority , property , life ....
on & on & on it goes.
I'm making a stand. If you have young formative children
(or grandchildren-I am saddenned by how many kids are raised by their grandparents!!)

YOU CAN TELL THEM NO!!

If he pitches a fit and gets his way he doesn't respect what he got OR who gave it to him.

No 6 year old needs a 300$ video game
no 7 year old needs a 200$ phone
no child needs a birthday party that costs 300$
ABSOLUTELY NO 16 year old needs a brand new car.

What an awesome opportunity we have been given!! Don't blow it.

I leave you with this I'm by no means a perfect parent, but I value what past generations did and see how we are losing respectful kids

This isn't as weird as it first sounds, and I believe it true-

LANGLEYism"If your kids like you all the time you are not being a good parent!!

Thanks for giving me respect DAD

Well said and shot! You do so well with these high grain b&ws. I bet they look great as prints too. V

Truer words were never spoken. I hope it's alright if I copy that down and save it somewhere.
I didn't always give my parents the respect they deserved growing up, that's why I make sure to give it to them now, times 2...and then some.
