The same Black Widow spider in her natural surroundings just before release. For those questioning the habitat, this plant was in an irrigated garden. Just 6" away was a rather dry by comparison. She was normally in the dry area, but didn't photograph too well there.

The identification as a Black Widow spider was confirmed from this photograph by the entomology department at Texas A&M University. This is one of 3 types of Black Widow spiders found in Texas.
