10 Sept 2007 Bald Faced Hornet Nest - 17738

Up in a tree on the corner of my driveway.

This thing is huge - about the size of a basketball...

My 'obsessed with animal planet' son informed me they will all be dead by winter and then we can take the nest down and check it out - and it seems he's right from what I've read... so... I guess we are letting them be for now... kind of creepy that one was looking at me though!

That is amazing and brings back good memories.
My grandparents use to have one (unused) hanging in the kitchen-dining area of the Colorado house.
