An overview of the ranchhouse and what now serves as a picnic area & part of pastures for smaller livestock such as sheep.
"Old Borges Ranch"
Walnut Creek's Old Borges Ranchhouse, as the cornerstone of a working cattle ranch, was first built by Frank (Francisco) & his wife Mary Borges, their sons & daughters in 1899.
Since then, it has withstood 5 generations of hard working Borges Family. It now has come to life again as the Old Borges Ranchhouse & Visitor Center for the 2,600 acre W.C. Open Space.
The integrity of this century-old building has been preserved through restoration & the generosity of the Borges Family, City of WC, State of Calif. Office of Historic Preservation & the W.C. Open Space Foundation.
The Old Borges Ranch was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, & has since open its doors to the public as an integral part of our western heritage.
