It's in Arizona. Look it up on Wikipedia. We were there in Dec. Not a lot of people going out there at that time of year. There is a lottery system that you have to go through to see if you're one of the 20 that will go out there on a certain day. There is no real map, they give you a series of photos to follow to get you to and from the formation. Lots of walking through sand. I forget, but I think it's 3 miles one way. There have been hikers that have died by getting lost, or by not bring enough to drink. (or both) We went on the buddy system. My friend and I met up with two individuals that would have been walking out alone, after the lottery and made plans to meet up in the morning. This worked out well. davev.
