I am, in general, so obsessed with small flying things that I am a little amazed I never commented on this one before. As a former beekeeper, I have a soft spot in my heart, not just for bees, but flying stinging things of all kinds. There is a sense of sadness here that is beautifully illustrated. zM
Guest 03-Jul-2007 01:16
this is so great! the blur, texture and colour and the bee floating (?) and resting from its daily hard work.. amazing!
Guest 03-May-2007 12:04
Hmm.. thought I'd commented on this one before! Love the shot, as has been said the color is wonderful.

So, you've discovered the secret to a great cup of coffee.

Cool shot.

Beauty encased in amber. Wonderful!--Rene

Now that is a very very cool photo. Brilliant twist on insect macros - probably my favourite macro I've seen in week actually, but to call it a macro would be to undermine the creativity at work here in both the image and the title. There is such beauty (and tragedy) in this image of a life smaller than a fingernail...

Amazing image!

This picture is like a mirror: I recognize myself (after the daily comments to all new uploads on the fav list!).

Brilliant! GMV

Every breath of my wings to my very last is for you.As you fill the air of my soul with the richness of nectar.I cannot escape the sweetness of your spirit because it intoxicates me so.And I would rather drown in the ecstacy of your company than know of any other life. That being the truth, perhaps I stain your perfection with a sting of a shadow. A smudge against your gleaming goldness. As if I am a flaw imbedded in priceless ageless amber.Hanging there impossibly as a puppet silhouette that would be nothing, yes invisible, without your burning warmth.Your brilliance, which overwhelms.

This is how I felt in swimming class, when I tried to tread water!
Guest 06-Sep-2006 00:18

Wow. Vote.

My first impression was as the same as Ana...This resembles an Amber cushion for an exhausted creature. So special this one..very well done....L.

Death is final...but beauty is everlasting....One of your greatest. K
Guest 04-Sep-2006 21:59
yes, there's the exhaustion, and i like JD's optimistic approach, but to me it mostly says resignation...the meltdown following a long hard struggle, the final 'i give up' when the energy runs out.
Guest 04-Sep-2006 20:20
Exhaustion, mais en meme temps defiant la gravite. Les couleurs sont superbes, et le reflet sur l'eau est magique, dedoublant l'image de la guepe.
olivier bruning04-Sep-2006 19:36
great! I like the way you paint with lenses...
Mostafa Moftah04-Sep-2006 19:08
I like the minimalizing of the dark areas, good composition too.. ~V~
Ana Carloto O'Shea04-Sep-2006 17:45
Ah.. very interesting..
You know that it seems that it's a wasp from billions of years ago and you caught her lying in somer sort of balming amber sleep. Exhaustion is good title for it.. I think we all had those kind of wasp days, without the dying part of course ;)
Unusual and fine shot Christine.
