Schönburg Castle – described as “the most beautiful refönburguge (castle refuge) of the Rhine romaticism”. Dating from the 10th and 11th centuries,
it came into the possession of the Schönburg dynasty. It was destroyed in 1689 by French soldiers during the Palatinate Wars, and rebuilt since 1885,
bit by bit, into its current condition. It is now a hotel.
