The Loreley Rock, onto which many boats have been smashed by the strong currents. Legends tell of a beautiful blonde siren combing her hair
and luring unlucky sailors to their deaths with her song. The nearby town of St Goar was settled in the 7th century by St Goar to save
shipwrecked mariners and nurse them back to health.
