Burg Maus

Burg Maus – Castle Maus (Mouse in English!). Construction began in 1356, taking some 30 years to complete, under successive Electors of Trier,
to enforce the Trier’s recently acquired rights to levy tolls on the River Rhine, and also to secure Trier’s borders against the Counts of Katzenelnbogen,
who had built Burg Katz and Burg Rheinfels. In the 14th century, it became one of the residences of the Elector of Trier. Unlike its neighbouring castles,
Burg Maus was never destroyed, though it fell into disrepair in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was restored in the 1900s.

Is it open for viewing? Or a residence? Or also a hotel - do you know? There are so very many castles in the area you visited. Marvelous that they are restored and maintained.
