Senglea – also known as Isola. One of the Three Cities, named after Grand Master de la Sengle who founded the community in 1554.
Senglea suffered massive destruction rendering it uninhabitable during World War II; it has now been carefully restored.
In the 1970s, it became popular as an artists colony, though it has now returned to more familiar local life.
