Carrickfergus Castle

The 12th century Carrickfergus Castle, one of the best-preserved Norman castles in Ireland.
Shaped to fit the crag on which it was built, overlooking the harbour. It still has its
original portcullis. William of Orange stayed here, after landing at Carrickfergus in 1690
(see next image), before the Battle of the Boyne.
