Maldives Trip: 11 - 15 July 2003

A lot of my friends and relatives have been asking me to put my Maldives trip photos on PBase. Here they are! It's my second honeymoon with my wife. Everything was great; the weather, the food, the people, everything! No wonder it's called Heaven on Earth.

you take such beautiful pictures. myself and my partner are going there for 2 weeks end of june, have been a bit concerned about the weather. does it rain alot there? and is it cold at night.. would really appreciate your input.. thanks

Hey there, i'm intending to go to the maldives in my honeymoon and that will be between the first of july and the 15th of it.... can u please tell me if it's a good choice or not since the weather there at this time of year may be bad as i heard....

Of all my 3 days 3 nights there, we were very very lucky that we rain didn't caught up on us. When we arrived at night, the rain just stopped, and good weather continued for 3 solid days! My pictures are proof.

Expect slight rain during this period though, but always refer to the weather forcast.

My fiance and I are looking at the Maldives for the perfect honey moon. We only have the option of going there the first two weeks of july, but we are a bit put off by the weather reports! Is is taking a chance to go there in july, and risking rain and grey weather all the time? What is your experience?

Thanx for visiting Don, and glad that the pictures brings back happy memories. Most importantly, you like the shots. Yes, this place is unforgettable, which will bring back very good memories, especially if you travel with your loved ones. It's also very amazing for me to see the 'Maldivian Currency' back in the 80s. Thanx for sharing!

Now, this place has been dominated by international finance groups which helps to run the different islands. The prices to visit, in my opinion, is pretty high. I went there during the post-SARS period, which is still quite expensive for my wife and me. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves very much. Hope to go back there again and take more pictures, but now I need the $$$. Come back for more of my other pics often! :-)

Very cool. I spent a week in the Maldives in the mid-80's. Stayed on the second biggest island if I rember correctly and walked around the entire island in less than 10 minutes.

Saltwater showers only on that island back then. Mater-o-fact things were a bit crazy on that island back then. No maldavian money available, had to convert US$ to plastic beads that made neklaces. Red, blue and gold. The values would change enormously from day to day. One day the gold beads were worth 20 bucks. Couple days later thaey would switch and you would be stuck holding beads the were worth something like 5$. All the sudden the red ones would be worth $20. No kidding, I kid you not. However we could trade one 12 ounce schlitz beer for two huge cans of Foster's Lager. Go figure... We would drink a few and forget the bead scam and do it all again the next day.

But it was heaven on earth except for the fact that some of the islands seem only a half inch off the oceans surface. Anyway thanks for sharing these shots. It is a GREAT vacation destination. Brought back memories of my trip to what seemed like Gilligan's Isles. Some nice views you have shared here. Thanks and happy shooting.
