Strange Trees

Seaport Village, San Diego, California

For those of you who check in periodically, I was on a business/fun trip to San Diego. The next several postings will be from my trip out there. Maybe someone out there can tell me what kind of tree this is? I do not typically see these unique trees in Iowa! Seaport Village area was landscaped with many of these trees.

Hi Rochelle, this is a great picture. You've caught some beautiful light that gives the tree a magical look. I don't know what kind of tree it is, but there are lots of them all around where I live in Orange County, just north of San Diego. I've always wanted to attempt to photograph som of them...

I thought Beech too, before I read the posting below, though I could be wrong. It looks just like a beech tree that I've seen recently. It's a great tree to see and photograph, and you've done it well.

Wow, this is awesome. I can't help you our with what sort of a tree it is although I would probably guess a beech but I am sure I would be way off. It looks like some magical tree from a children's book, doesn't it? And you did a very nice job capturing it and presenting it.
