28 Gaia

Melbourne, Australia

My cat Gaia which means the earth in Greek. 14 years old.
Today, five years ago she migrated from the Netherlands to Australia.
She had to fly a few days earlier then me.
It was a flight of more then 17.000 km for her.
Before she was able to fly she had to meet the quarantine requirements of Australia.
Still she had to stay10 weeks in quarantine.
She has become an indoor cat as she is unfamiliar with the Australian wildlife
And we are living very close to a busy road.
She doesn’t like when I take pictures of her, she always closes her eyes.

Gaia looks like a sweet, gentle kitty. How brave to take such a long trip and then to be in quarantine.

She is sooo beautiful. A very well-travelled cat indeed! My cats are all indoor cats too, better for them and better for local wildlife too :-) I had a cat once that I brought home from Greece to Ottawa, and later he came with us to Vancouver and back again! He lived to be 18 years old.

She's so pretty. I keep mine inside too due to coyotes lurking about at night.

So cute! Great name for a cat. She has more stamps in her passport than I do!

Wonderful portrait of beautiful Gaia, I really like her markings and also the name you chose for her. What a brave cat she is to have taken such a long trip and be in quarantine that long. Some cats don't like their photo taken, they don't like the flash and I think they don't like the reflection on the lens. Still a very nice portrait Mieke.

What a sweet face!! I know cats don't like to look into the camera, but they will look you in the eye. Who knows, they are mysterious and wonderful creatures. You must love her very much.
