Considering their future health and ability to get around, my inlaws moved from a large, beautiful home to a smaller house. They needed to get new furniture to fit into the smaller house, and a new china cabinet was one of the pieces they purchased. My father-in-law got a lot of pleasure showing each new person who came to the house, how, by touching the cabinet door hinge, a light would turn on inside. He was very excited by this miraculous technology. I got a lot of pleasure from watching him.
This April, my father-in-law, who was 82 but was 62 physically, was diagnosed with leukemia. Being in otherwise good health, he decided to have chemotherapy. Everything seemed to go well with the chemo, he never even got nauseated. He was up for a shower on the morning of April 29th but suddenly went down hill. He got some kind of infection and died that evening. The family is all doing reasonably well.
